MarketPlace LogoEvery other week a growing multi-cultural, multi-generational group gathers to share perspectives on a variety of subjects. Born in the mind of three people who shared a vision of transformative conversations in a sacred space, the MarketPlace is a manifestation of that vision. We believe that every human bears intrinsic value, and we stand to grow exponentially when we exchange our value freely while opening ourselves to accept the value in others. The MarketPlace is a diverse community where value is exchanged, insights are gained, and differences are seen as assets, not liabilities..

In a single meeting there are many traditions represented, including Atheism, Baha’i, Christianity, Islam and many more. Launched in January 2009, this group has expanded from 3 to over 100 members primarily in the Chicagoland area, but also across the nation and into Beijing, China. Each conversation is loosely moderated with a proven collaboration technology and addresses a subject from the Seven Areas of Life (Spiritual, Intellectual, Social, Financial, Physical, Emotional & Vocational) — inviting conversation in the safe context of “no wrong answers.” The ground rules are simple: speak from your own place, add value to the conversation, and honor the value in others. It is an economy in which everyone holds stock, and everyone shares responsibility for increasing the value of the exchange. The expected outcome of each meeting is to walk away with a new level of understanding of others that you didn’t arrive with. The talks are passionate, revealing and educational all at once. There are moments of high tension and moments when the unity is almost tangible. We discover on a regular basis that our commonalities far outweigh our differences–but our differences are beautiful.

What Others Have to Say About MP

I thought it was great! I know for me, I'm always "working" on myself but it's helpful to get together as a group and hear other peoples experiences with goals, fears etc, . For me, it enhances my own growth. The discussion did just that. I think it's so wonderful to see three Black men getting together and creating something so positive.
